On a very hot afternoon in Walsall, Shrewsbury head to their first league fixture. After a challenging pre-season and a two-week gap from playing due to a cancelled friendly it was a cause for some concern going into this first game.
The game started out with Walsall Ladies coming strong at Shrewsbury Women with direct attacks, from the offset looking like a big threat at the team. With chances at the Shrewsbury goal Walsall have given problems early doors into this match. But Shrewsbury manage to take control of the pressure and immediately gain full control of the game with strong shows of passing and possession play.
From this display of control in the game Shrewsbury were able to get two strong goals against Walsall, from then on, the goals just kept coming with Shrewsbury going three up before a questionable penalty call gives Walsall a goal of their own. But Shrewsbury weren’t demotivated by conceding in frustrating fashion and continued to score another goal quickly in reply to Walsall.
Half-Time (Walsall Ladies 1-4 Shrewsbury Women)
As the second half begins it seems to be a repeat of the first half with Walsall instantly putting strong pressure on Shrewsbury leading to an early goal in this half.
