In the summer of 2016 Shrewsbury Town in the Community successfully became a registered Regional Talent Club (RTC). The Regional Talent Club is a girls football centre that offers an elite pathway into the women’s game, whether that be at club or country level.
We are one of 32 centres in the country, and compete against the likes of WBA, Birmingham City and Aston Villa on a regular basis.
The aim is to produce players for the England Talent pathway, Women’s Super League and the club’s own ladies team.
The chance to pull on the Shrewsbury Town shirt has proved popular, with 150 girls coming on trial and 48 signing contracts with the RTC for the 2017/2018 season.
We currently have teams representing Town in the under 10s, under 12s, under 14s and under 16s age groups, who compete through the Shropshire Junior League and the FA England Talent Pathway.
Our ultimate goal at Shrewsbury Town in the Community is to produce players good enough to progress to represent Shrewsbury Town Womens’ team and the England National teams.
