Reading the game allows Shrewsbury Town in the Community the opportunity to improve literacy engagement within primary schools across Shropshire.
Working within the locality of Montgomery Waters Meadow, the programme aims to inspire pupils to read more and improve their confidence and attitude towards literacy. This includes helping children to improve their writing skills through football related resources, encouraging children to write match reports, diary entries, letters and reading comprehension.
This programme uses the power of football to inspire learning within the classroom. Each child receives a unique Shrewsbury Town Football Club workbook that has been designed by experts of the educational sector, to complete the classroom section of each session. The programme also includes an hour outdoor football skills session.
