ShrewsAbility – Disability Sport Provision

ShrewsAbility sessions are our specialised disability sports programmes which run every week.  Each session caters to the needs of multiple disabilities.

Coaches deliver specific sessions aimed at those who have Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy, along with PAN football which is an all inclusive session for those with any kind of disability. In addition to this we are now offering Powerchair, and Amputee football.

For anyone who wants to come and have a go, you are able to attend your first two sessions for free! (Excluding Ludlow sessions)

16+ Down’s Syndrome Football

A programme which is supported by the Down Syndrome Association to support the development of players. We have passionate staff that work alongside each player to work to the individual needs of the footballer.

16+ Cerebral Palsy Football

A football session for children and young adults with cerebral palsy. Whether the players are ambulant or are supported by frames or crutches we adapt the session to meet their needs yet challenge them to improve week by week.

16+ Amputee Football

A new session set up in partnership with England Amputee Football Association to support amputees, people with limb deficiencies and persons with restricted use of limbs, with the opportunity to play football locally, nationally and internationally. So if you are a cancer survivor, ex or serving military, or limbless/limb impaired for any other reason, you’re welcome to try this fantastic sport – You don’t need crutches to play this game!

Powerchair Football

A football session that proves anything is possible and dreams to play football can always be achieved. This session supports and develops footballers in power chairs from basic movements in the chairs to ball skills to game play.

(Please note we do not provide the Powerchairs for the session, only the attachment for the wheelchair.)
