We’re back with our Community Team updates for the last week!

Shrewsbury Town Women 2 – 1 AFC Telford United Ladies

A fiery derby game with Telford at the Community Hub Pitch ended in a fantastic victory for Town as they moved to second in the league table. A dominant first half saw Shrewsbury take the lead through Lauren Jones, the lead was doubled by Beth Francis after the break. Telford did manage to mount a late challenge after pulling one back, but a determined and defiant Town performance ensured they held on to the win. Abbey Price and Kelly Williams were the stand-out players and were instrumental in the victory.

The game also saw both teams supporting the Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign, promoting equality for LGBT+ persons in sport.

BTEC Elite

Shrewsbury Town 6 – 0 Sheffield Wednesday

A strong performance from all in a Town shirt and a great response after a disappointing result last week. Some good football was on display as the team tried out a different formation which seemed much better suited and helped the team run out worthy winners. The strength of the performance made it impossible to pick a Player of the Match, both forwards caused problems, the midfield moved the ball well and worked tirelessly, the defence held firm and with the keeper making some good saves when called upon. Goals came from Harvey Lewis, Kai Bray, Rhys Hesen, Carl Murch, Toby Morgan (x 2)

Shadow Squad U14s

Shrewsbury Town 2 – 1 Lee Hurst Academy

After a slow start to the game Town battled well against a very well-organised team and managed to just edge the game. Both teams created some good chances and there really should have been more goals. Usual outfield player Jerry Reynolds came into the team in goal due to an injury before the game and did very well, meanwhile Charlie Green ran the show in midfield.
