Community Team Updates – 11/12/19

We’re back with our weekly team updates from across the community!

BTEC Elite

Shrewsbury Town 1 – 0 Coventry City

This EFL CEFA Cup encounter was a very close run game as reflected by the scoreline. Both teams played well and it really could have gone either way, Town managed to just edge it however to see us through to the next round of the cup. The team defended well with a couple of stand out performances from Kia Bray and Dan Parker. Rhys Hesden got the only goal of the game.

BTEC Development

Idsall 1 – 2 Shrewsbury Town

A poor pitch made this a real battle for both teams, Shrews really dug in however and turned out their best performance of the season so far against a difficult team. Town fully deserved their win, with  the back four and midfield battling well, creating some great chances. Aaron made some fantastic saves to ensure we held on to all 3 points. Star players from the game were Sam Yates and Carl Murch.

Shadow Squad U13s

Shrewsbury Town 0 – 2 Boldmere

A game against strong opposition for our U13s this week, Boldmere dominated from the start. The effort was certainly there from Shrewsbury, but a little more quality was needed in the final third. Ultimately the better team on the day won. Stand out players were Sam Tomlinson and Shay Sterty

Shadow Squad U14s

Stafford Rangers 3 – 1 Shrewsbury Town

A sloppy start from the team meant the game was an uphill struggle and effectively killed any hope of getting something from the game. A great 45 yard screamer from Kieran Wental dragged Town back into the game, but ultimately it was too late to be anything more than a consolation goal. Jake Hedaux did well in goal to prevent the team conceding more and Jamie Webb offered some much needed solidity in midfield.

Girls ADC U12s

Hereford United 2 – 3  Shrewsbury Town

A good performance against a strong team gave our U12s victory in Hereford in this friendly fixture with a star performance from Poppy-Rose Parkes.

Girls ADC U10s

Hereford Untied 3 – 4 Shrewsbury Town

An entertaining game ended in victory for Shrewsbury, goals from Freya Leighton, Emily Fletcher and a brace from Evie Thomas got the team over the line.
