After the Christmas break some of our Community Teams were back in action over the last week. There was no Shrewsbury Town Women’s game due to a waterlogged pitch, however Salop were represented by Sir John Talbot U13 Girls in the Utilita Girls Cup at Burton Albion on Thursday, you can read the full report from that day here.  Find out how the rest of our squads got on below!

Shrewsbury Town Shadow Squad – U13

Leigh & Bransford Badgers Thistle 1 – 0 Shrewsbury Town

It was a long away trip for our U13s on Saturday and they were unlucky to come away with nothing. Despite having lots of possession Salop failed to take advantage and create chances. Even though they defended well for large periods of the game, Leigh & Bransford managed to find a way through to break the deadlock and take the points. Jack Jones was the stand out player for Town.

Shrewsbury Town Shadow Squad – U14s

Shrewsbury Town  0 – 2 Lichfield Galaxy Round Tables

Town created plenty at home to a strong Lichfield side, but just lacked the finishing touches. The visitors put in a very disciplined performance and managed to snatch the victory. There were still a lot of positives to take from the game for Salop though, with Oliver Speake, Kieran Wental, and Sam Jervis providing particular highlights.

A disappointing start to 2020  for our Community teams, but next week will provide fresh opportunities as our BTEC Development team and women’s team are scheduled to return to action!
