We’re back with another round of Community Team Updates in a week which saw two of our teams in cup action and a local Shropshire Derby as Shrewsbury Town Women took on Ludlow Ladies! Find out how they got on below!

Ludlow Town Ladies 0 – 3 Shrewsbury Town Women

A dominant performance from Salop in their first game back since Christmas sees them through to the next round of the Tom Farmer Shropshire County Cup. Goals in the game came from Lauren Jones and Zoe Child.

BTEC Elite Team

Shrewsbury Town 2 – 2 Rochdale A.F.C (Rochdale won 4-3 on penalties)

A great performance from Town should have been enough to win the game in normal time after they hit the post twice and had numerous other chances. It sadly wasn’t to be, and a mad penalty shoot-out led to Salop exiting the EFL Cup. Both goals came from Rhys Hesden, with another stand-out performance coming from James Smallwood.

Shadow Squads U13s

Coventry Sky Blue 0 – 1 Shrewsbury Town

With only 10 players travelling and no recognised goalkeeper, this one could well have just been written off. However those 10 individuals made sure that wasn’t the case with an impressive, battling performance allowing them to control the game. Owen Jackson‘s stunning chip from just inside the box won the game. It was hard to pick a star player, as everyone put a great shift in, but Marley Woodcock, Owen Jackson, Niall Rhodes, Ross Ford, and Sam Tomlinson in particular deserved a special mention.

Shadow Squad U15s

Borrowash Victoria 2 – 2 Shrewsbury Town

After a promising start for Salop going 1-0 up, the team seemed to lull, and two goals either side of the break saw Shrewsbury 2-1 down. Despite being second best in all areas of the pitch, perseverance and a late penalty meant the score finished 2-2. Not the best performance overall, but a a good sign to still take something from the game when the team was not at its best. Stand out performances came from Dom Wood and Harvey Lovatt
