We’re back with our weekly updates on how all our community teams got on over the course of the last week!

Shrewsbury Town Women 2 – 1 Port Vale Ladies

Town got back to winning ways after going a goal down early on in the game. The team fought back well to get the equalizer through Olivia Minshall before half-time, who popped up again after the break to fire the team into the lead. Vale did come into the game more after this, but some solid defending, in particular from Kelly Williams who won every tackle, meant that Salop held on for the win.

BTEC

Elite Squad – Leeds United 3 – 3 Shrewsbury Town – EFL Cup

Despite travelling up to Leeds with only 11 players, our BTEC Elite squad were very unlucky not to come away with the win. Town dominated the first half, creating lots of chances but just lacking a slight bit of composure in front of goal. In the second half tired legs allowed the home side to get back into the game and they managed to grab an equalizer just before the end. The Town goals came from Archie Griffiths Pugh and Rhys Henden with another stand-out performance from Kia Bray.

Development Squad – Shrewsbury Town 3 – 3 Codsall 2nd XI

A fantastic defence performance in the 1st half and some clinical finishing meant that the Shrewsbury went in at half time 3-0 up from goals from Kaiden and Steffen (2). In the second half the team started to tire though, and  the relentless pressure from Codsall allowed them to score 3 goals in the space of 15 minutes. Fortunately Shrewsbury Town held on to take a 3-3 draw thanks to some good saves from Finn in goal. The team were very organised and kept going until the very end in what proved to be a very good point against a strong opposition.

Shadow Squads

U13s – Shrewsbury Town 0 – 3 Tamworth Academy

Individual errors led to Tamworth racing into a 2-0 lead early, and although Town created some good chances, their poor finishing cost them when Tamworth hit them on the counter to make it 3-0 and close the game out. It was a harsh result, but it could prove to be a good learning experience for the team. Star players were Marley Woodcock and Fin Mantle.

U14s – Haunchwood Juniors  1 – 6 Shrewsbury Town

Conceding early on seemed to spur Shrewsbury into life as Oliwer Fiedor soon levelled and then put the team into the lead before half-time. The second half was dominated by Town with goals coming from Jamie Web, a brace from Jerry Reynolds and a wonderstrike from Fletcher Allmark completing the set.

U15s – Belvedere Park 0 – 0 Shrewsbury Town

As the scoreline suggests it was a very even game, with both teams dominating for periods. In the end neither side could find a goal. Town’s standout players were Cameron Murdoch and Yahya Muhammad.
