On 26th September Shrewsbury Town in the Community will be hosting a coffee morning at the Mercedes-Benz Football Hub between 10am-12pm to help raise funds for Shropshire cancer fund, Lingen Davies.

The event will take place as part of the usual Extra-Time Hubs which run every Thursday as part of Shrewsbury Town in the Community’s attempts to tackle loneliness and improve active ageing across Shropshire by providing weekly opportunities for those over 50 to socialise and take part in a variety of activities.

Shrewsbury Town in the Community have worked closely with Lingen Davies in recent years through the Kick Cancer project which will be returning later this year to help those recovering from cancer providing them with a support group of others in similar situations and along with providing light physical activity sessions which have been linked to helping rehabilitation.

Shrewsbury Town in the Community Health and Wellbeing manager, Sarah Hamer, commented on the event. “This is a great opportunity for us to showcase the link we have with other charities in the area and show our appreciation to Lingen Davies after all their support in getting our Kick Cancer project up and running in the last year. We also hope to show the benefits of local organisations working together and the difference that we can make throughout Shropshire.”
