New EFL Extra Time Hubs Launch in Shrewsbury

We are delighted to announce that we will be launching two brand new EFL Extra-Time Hubs in the next month to provide even more opportunity for members of the local community who are retired or semi-retired to meet other people, socialise and do more of the things that they enjoy.

‘Extra Time Hubs’ is a national project from the EFL Trust and will initially be delivered by 12 EFL Clubs including Shrewsbury Town in the Community.  The Hubs will harness the power of football clubs in the local communities to bring people together

Extra Time Hubs has been made possible with thanks to National Lottery funding from Sport England and we aim to bring together retired and semi-retired people to have a positive effect on the range of activities available to them in their free time and the opportunity to meet and spend time with like-minded people from the area and to prove that you’re never too old learn to do the things you’ve always wanted to do.

‘I am excited to get the sessions started and it will be great for people to come along and meet others.  We hope it will help address social isolation and be a meeting point for many.  Hopefully I can share my experiences and inspire people to do activities they might not ordinarily do’

Our Extra Time Hubs will run three times a week at the following times and locations.

Mondays (from 25th March) @ Community Football Hub at Montgomery Waters Meadow, SY2 6ST from 10am-12pm

Mondays  (from 29th April) @ The Uplands Nursing Home in Bicton Heath, SY3 8GA from 1:30pm-3pm

Thursdays (currently running) @ Community Football Hub at Montgomery Waters Meadow, SY2 6ST from 10am-12pm

Our Extra-Time Hubs have proven to be very popular so far and by increasing the number of sessions we hope to be able to give even more access to the sessions to all from across Shropshire. The project includes both light physical activity and social activities such as quizzes and even trips to bowling!
