Shrews Family

Shrewsbury Town Football Club and Shrewsbury Town in the Community have today launched the ‘Shrews Family’ project, as a direct response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

This coordinated outreach and engagement project aims to consolidate and enhance the good work already taking place across the Football Club maintaining contact with fans and providing vital support and assistance to some of the most vulnerable, socially isolated and at-risk members of our community in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

In partnership with Shrewsbury Town in the Community we have received almost £8,000 from the Community Foundation to enhance our response which will see over 200 ‘tailored isolation packs’ being delivered to our most vulnerable supporters and the participants from our Community programmes. We are also extremely grateful to Tuffins Supermarket for their contribution to the packs with food and other goods being donated.

We anticipate the need for these packs to potentially treble so we are calling on supporters to help ‘support their football family’ and donate to the cause – www.justgiving.com/campaign/shrewsfamily

The outreach activity includes:

Shrewsbury Town CEO, Brian Caldwell is proud of the efforts the club have made in responding to the crisis, and of being able to offer its support to the local community at this time. ‘Shrews Family is a way to consolidate and coordinate all of the great work that is going on across the club from Sam Ricketts and Dave Edwards making supportive calls, The Academy opening up online resources to engage young footballers to the community re-inventing current delivery to support primary schools with online live lessons. All football clubs across the country rely on their local community for support year in year out, this is our chance to repay the support given to the club by helping where we can.’
