Earlier this month we launched our Shrewsbury Town in the Community Snoods.

Sponsored by Nick Jones Wealth Planning, these limited-edition snoods are set to raise funds for our Heads-Up programmes. These programmes help support people in Shropshire who are tackling Mental Health.

Mental Health affects 1 in 4 people at some point during their lives, yet the stigma around using mental health services stops many people from seeking the help they need. Shrewsbury Town in the Community mean to tackle this through offering mental health sports sessions for those living with mental health problems

These sessions aim to:

Our Shrewsbury Town in the Community Snoods are priced at £10.00 and are available in both adult and kids sizes. For every snood purchased, £3.00 will directly be invested into our Heads Up programme to help fund professional staff support and resources, monthly talks from externals, peer support space, equipment and kit.

With over 150 sold in one day, our new Snoods are set to raise an incredible £2,400.

Our Health Activator Sophie Challinor commented;

“Here at STITC we have seen a big increase in the need for the mental health provision we run, it has in turn through lockdown 2 become a vital service that we did not discontinue. The nature of the heads up session has changed from a football session to socialise with peers, to an essential service that gives professional support, linking with referral routes and supporting charities. The money raised from the sale of snoods will go toward this essential service that we hope will grow and support all who need us in the surrounding areas.”
