On Tuesday 29th October we hosted a Football Development festival at the Community Hub Pitch which was a huge success, with 10 teams competing from across the country.

Teams representing Burton Albion, West Bromwich Albion, Derby County, Port Vale, two Hull City teams, and three teams from our centres in Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Prees/Bridgnorth competed in the all-day tournament. Fixtures were refereed by our Foundation Degree students with one coaching a Shrewsbury team for the day. It was a fantastic day of football with some excellent skills and teams on display, and we were pleased to see so many parents come down to watch the fixtures being played.

We also had some special guests come to see some of the action as Jason Cummings, Ethan Ebanks-Landell, and Sean Goss came down to answer a few questions from our teams and give some pointers for their development. The group also stayed to watch the later stages of the tournament and congratulate the teams on their performances.

In the end only penalties could separate finalists West Brom and eventual winners Walsall. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to the tournament and contributing to a fantastic day. We can’t wait to see you again soon.
